A Client Success Story

The fourth quarter of the calendar year is an exciting time here at Blue Marble. During this time, many organizations are looking ahead and developing a strategy for Q1. It’s very common for companies to begin expanding or restructuring. Most often, this can include mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. I would like to share a story of how our team is supporting one of our newest clients navigate the challenges that come along with these activities.

Client Challenge
Our client was referred to Blue Marble by one of our partner organizations who had been helping them domestically. When we met, the firm was in process of purchasing a business unit from a larger company in the oil and gas industry. This new company would have operations in 4 new countries in different parts of the world. Most of their experience until this point had been creating and operating companies within the United States. They had been working with a global law firm to assist in the transaction as well as establishing a legal presence in each country but were unsure where to go from there. When it came to international payroll and compliance, they were searching for a partner to help provide guidance.

Why Blue Marble
Early in their process, our client found themselves overwhelmed with all of the global compliance requirements in setting up their new company. This included creating new entities in each country, registering for the proper tax and social accounts, and making sure they had the proper labor agreements in place with their new employees. They were really looking for a partner who could not only assist with payroll, but everything else they may need to consider. Their main goal was to be able to focus on their internal strategy and culture and find a partner to help with the rest. We had several meetings with the leadership team to determine what support they were being provided by their legal counsel and where there were gaps.

The biggest item was ensuring no statutory registrations for payroll, tax, and employee benefits were missed so they could have a smooth transition. We were also able to work in conjunction with their current counsel to ensure all employment contracts would meet the local labor code.

As a larger goal, once up and running, they wanted to have a simplified approach to global payroll. They needed a system that would allow their local, as well as corporate teams to collaborate. It was also important for the team to have visibility into their new payroll data.

We demonstrated our consolidated approach to processing payroll as well as custom global reporting. One of the other big items that stood out to the group was our ability to provide local subject matter experts to support their teams in every country. We were able to show our client how partnering with Blue Marble would allow their team to execute on their internal strategy while providing the peace of mind that they had a well-thought out approach to payroll and compliance in their new countries.

If your organization is facing similar challenges, and is seeking a true global partner, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We can provide the expertise and support to navigate new markets, while allowing your team to focus on what is important – growing your business!
